Kat from The UK Torn: I Seen a Lot of Amazing Shows

This is Kat from The UK Torn. She is one of the leaders of the Chapter and she works for Metallica…from time to time…

HOS: What is your name (nickname) and position it your local chapter?

Kat: I have quite a few nicknames – Lilo (from the Disney film Lilo and Stitch) is one of them. When I was a university student and a bartender a lot of people thought I was Hawaiian and my middle name is Li!
I’m live in London but I’m from Hong Kong.
I am the chapter head for The UK Torn.

HOS: When was the first time you have heard Metallica and which song? Your favorite album or song? And explain why?

Kat: My earliest memory of Metallica was hearing the solo to Master of Puppets when I was 8 years old (1988)!
I have a lot of favourite songs. But Fade to Black has to be one I love and will always give me an amazing memory. About ten years ago – I met a guy called Jamie who I later became good friends with. Our first meeting we both discovered we were huge Metallica fans and we both play guitar. We talked about playing Fade to Black and how we felt it was amazing to play. We talked about this for over an hour. My friend Jamie died in 2005 during the 7th July terrorist attacks in London.

HOS: What is Metallica personally for you? Did Metallica change your life in some way?]

Kat: Yes! I met Adrian at a UK Torn bash in 2003 – he’s now my husband, we got married in 2008.

HOS: When and where you have seen Metallica Live? Which one is your personal favorite? And how many concerts you want to see in the future?

Kat: I have no idea how many times I seen Metallica! All I know is, it’s in triple figures! I seen a lot of amazing shows – one of the recent ones which I loved was Wembley Stadium in London. The crowd atmosphere was one of the best I have ever seen with Metallica. I would love to see more shows – in fact I will next week starting in Vegas!

HOS: Where are the craziest Metallica fans you’ve ever met?

Kat: Europe! In fact the UK! Our crowds are not like any other in the world. We’re brutal without being violent and our atmosphere is electric. If you don’t believe me, listen to the livemet recording on ‘Memory remains’ from Wembley Stadium 2007!!!

HOS: Have you ever met some of the guys in person and what was the first thing in you mind when you saw them?

Kat: Yes. First time I met any member of the band I was 15 and I met Jason Newsted at an after show meet and greet. The next time I met them was in 2003. All I remember thinking is “I hope my camera works!”

HOS: You must explain what is Metallica to you`re 5 year old kid, how will you do that?

Kat: Metallica is the best metal band in the world and you must listen to them or you won’t get any candy!!!”

HOS: When did you join the MetClub and when was born the idea for the local chapter?

Kat: I can’t remember! Years ago! There was no UK chapter so myself and a few UK clubbers decided to start one back in 2002!

HOS: What is the main purpose of your local chapter?

Kat: Bringing like minded fans together!

HOS: What attendances do you give for the local chapter for its development and popularization and for all members of your local chapter?

Kat: We have 4 admin members who run the chapter. Chapter head, webmaster, admin and editor.

HOS: Do you know something for Bulgaria? Would you say something special to the members of HOS?

Kat: ’ve met some of the HOS members in the summer this year and they are all AWESOME!
