Eric from Club Scandinavia: Stay loyal, stay dedicated

Our next guest from the Metallica famous fans is Erik from Sweden. He can spotted on the rail at almost every Metallica show with his typical Scandinavian look. This happened also in Sofia 2008  Summer, when he was caught holding little Swedish banner.

HOS: What is your name (nickname), where are you from and position it your local chapter?

Eirc: My name is Erik Lys?n and I’m from a city called G?vle in Sweden. My nickname is “ErCaZ” on the boards but everyone just calls me Erik. I started to use that nickname a long, long time ago so I’ve just sticked with it. I’m a member of the Club Scandinavia crew and my position, to narrow it down, would be “head of cliff in our minds”, I guess. But I’m involved in everything that happens with MCS basically.

HOS: When was the first time you have heard Metallica and which song?

Eirc: I think it was 91 or 92 and the song was.. Enter Sandman of course!

HOS: Your favorite album or song? And explain why?

Eirc: Uhm, Master of puppets is such an complete album, it’s perfect but since I got into Metallica with the black album I think I’ll have to choose that one.. But I’m not sure; it can change on a daily basis. The best song though is Master of Puppets. It has it all. Legendary riffs, lyrics, slow parts, solos, do I need to go on?

HOS: When and where you have seen Metallica Live? Which one is your personal favorite? And how many concerts you want to see in the future?

Eirc: Uhm, I’ve seen Metallica 65 times now so I’m not so keen on listing em all but I saw them the first time in Stockholm 28th may 1999. My favorite one is… uhm, the first show that comes to mind is the one at the old amphitheatre in Nimes. That one was so special… But the death magnetic one in Berlin was pretty great as well. Then of course my first show and also when I won a meet & greet in Roskilde 2003.
I’m just about to go and see another 5 shows in the US and after that you know, I wanna see them in every part of the world.

HOS: Where are the craziest Metallica fans you’ve ever met?

Eirc: Germany. They’re crazy. People just go nuts everywhere.

HoS: Last summer, some of us saw you working for Metallica; tell me more about that great experience? How was it? Was it your dream job?Are you still a fan of the band after you were an employee?

Eirc: Well, I don’t really talk about it much. I got an opportunity to help out at a few shows and that I’m extremely grateful for. But helping out at a few shows doesn’t mean you’re best friends with the band or anything like that. Yes, it would be a dream job to travel around the world, see new places, get new experiences, meet new people and listen to the music I love. I am and I will always be a die-hard fan.

HOS: If you must explain what is Metallica to your 5 year old kid, how will you do that?

Eirc: That ones hard. I might try to compare a Metallica show with the best rollercoaster in the world or something like that. :) I’m not sure.

HOS: When did you join the MetClub and when was born the idea for the local chapter?

Eirc: I joined the MetClub 1998. Niclas Swanlund started the chapter in 1995.

HOS: What is the main purpose of your local chapter?

Eirc: In short: a meeting point for Metallica fans in Sweden and the rest of Scandinvia. We arrange chapter parties and meet-ups. We have a lot of different projects going on.

HOS: What attendances do you give for the local chapter for its development and popularization and for all members of your local chapter?

Eirc: Creativity. All kinds of stuff really. Developments with our website. Different plans for the future. Ideas for parties, competitions and other stuff that can benefit our members.

HOS: Do you know something for Bulgaria? Would you say something special to the members of HOS?

Eirc: Stay loyal, stay dedicated. See you guys on the road!
